You wanted the best....

As mentioned previously, KISS have an album of new material on the way.. and it makes me feel all fuzzy inside. I loved KISS growing up... SERIOUSLY loved KISS!! and I'm filled with those same old feelings at the thought of them prepping an album of material that is written within the band (and not with any hired guns).. been rediscovering a lot of the bands I listened to in my younger years.. so as tribute to my (flaming?) youth here's a group pic of KISS and the initial sketch.. note that Paul has 3 arms on the sketch.. he's  not really got 3 arms, but I wasn't sure where his arm should be positioned, and I'm too damned lazy to rub the spare one out... so there!

Finally.. here are the entries for 'Control'.. I finally realized my Princess Leia Slave Girl fantasy (that's me drooling in the background) and Dave has taken the lyrics from Bowie's 'Space Oddity' and added in a tin of kit-e-kat and a maniacal 'controlling' kitten.. a bit like a furry 'hal' from Kubrick's '2001' maybe?

This week I played on the connotation of the word and the 'mystical/fantasy' side of it's meaning within the image.. I also applied it to a gig poster at the Camden Underworld for the bonkers folk/metal band Finntroll for good measure.. See what I did there?

Dave's supplied another great entry, clearly unable to get the thought of Kate Beckinsale's leather clad bottom out of him mind for the week though. He has eluded to some other interesting ideas that were spawned from the word which you can read more about on his blog davehiggins.wordpress.com

Did this doodle a few days ago.. not sure why or how, but I liked it.. keeps making me think of 'Medusa' for some reason, so when I coloured it up I decided to give her green skin.

First up... Dave with a lovely tribute to Sleepy Hollow, great use of limited colours, good composition and a great rendition of a horse.. I can't draw horses, so that bit makes me jealous. Another good show from Mr H.

Me.. first up I recreated the 7" single cover from Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast in my own childlike way (see.. the beast is HEADLESS).. so there's the tenuous link. Then I read Dave's blog and of all the ideas he had for the word.. then I felt I'd cheat and steal one of Dave's ideas.. hence the furious Barbarian... so there..

Yeah Baby Yeah!

Dave's take on a horrible word is (once again) an all singing-all dancing affair... and a topical reference to the UK staple diet and Dave's own food leanings (he's a vegisaurus!)... He makes my work look lazy... which of course it is!

I was going to do an all singing-all dancing tribute to Iron Maiden by illustrating Eddie in full Trooper gear.. bugger that though.. here's Austin Powers baby... Yeah!

shock horror... a band poster and no monsters!!

Rather pleased with myself for this one.. simple artwork, limited colours and some snappy graphic design with the typography.. I like music and movie posters because there are no rules in terms of rigid design.. so poo to you rigid design!!

The guy in the pic is the Singer from Dashboard Confessional.. or rather, my representation of him.. he's got a ton of tattoos up his arms, but if you think I'm going to spend my time fiddling about with that lot you can bugger off... besides which, if I hadn't just told you about it, you'd never have known... so NYAH NYAH!
