Return of the Captain
War of Words.. SILVER
KABOOM!!!! This weeks word produced an art explosion.. 2 entries from both myself and Dave (1 of which again follows a similar theme).
First up from the top.. My 'She-Wolf'... SILVER bullets and all that.. another excuse to draw a girl (albeit a hirsute one!).. Then my lean, mean, silver surfin' machine.. with no pants on! Closely followed by the first of Dave's 2 entries.. another Silver Surfer take.. and one that's both funny and poignant at the same time.. I really like this piece.. a lot! and finally, he's back in Monty Python territory and the 'dead parrot' sketch.. with a guest appearance from Paul McCartney (maybe?)...
Nest week.... SKY.... oh dear!!

War of Words.. HOLIDAY
Howdee Ya'll..
Sorry for the delay but I was off on Holiday last week in the middle of the Welsh mountains (so no phones or internet), hence the choice of word to represent. Dave has visualized a typical family scenario with his offering.. you can almost hear the words "are we there yet" being chanted like a mantra.
I used the word as an excuse to draw a naked girl again.. or maybe it's a social comment based upon the stereotypical needs for golden skin and a lack of education/thought for better health?... nah... NAKED CHICKS ROCK!!!
This illustration feels like it belongs in a health magazine somehow.. I'm pretty pleased with the simplicity of the lines and striking colours (I spent quite a bit of time looking at colour combinations for this).. it's pretty bold.

War of Words.. READER
Again with the similar themes this week...We both re-interpreted the word 'Reader' as that of a 'mindreader'... wish I'd have thought of doing a PSI Judge from 2000AD though.. Dave's entry is wicked!.. makes me want to go draw Judge Dredd now..
My entry?... I am so pleased with this week's effort.. my interpretation of Darth Vader after the fall of the Empire (if he hadn't died) as a Mind Reading performer in a Working Men's Club was a stoke of genius!!!.. well done me!
I'm being packed off to the home for wayward victorian girls for a well earned rest next week, so the word may run on a little as they don't allow any electrical goods at the asylum.. only porridge and enemas... and sometimes both at the same time (porridge enemas) as it saves on the washing up!!!

doodle of the Day
Here's a doodle I did of Hellboy's head ages ago.. I suspect I didn't do the body because it was too hard, or I am too lazy.. or maybe both?
It's been lying around in the bottom of a draw for ages and I found it last night.. I like it.. I'm going to colour it up and see what happens... and there's nothing you can do about it!! So there!

War of Words.. SWING
2 stylistically similar approaches to the word this week, but 2 different subjects. Dave's great character study of the Rat Pack in (in his words) unfinished at this stage.. but looks pretty cool to me!
I opted to interpret the word in a different way (I suppose as an excuse to draw another lady!) and I kept being reminded of Wayne's World and 'SSSHHHWWWIIINNNGGG!'.. so although it's a bit tenuous.. it's the late Bettie Page.. Pin up queen of the swinging sixties!
Funny how we both went for a limited colour palette this week (apart from my lurid use of pink that is!!)

War of Words.. CONQUEROR! pt1
well... here's my entry for this weeks word (and a variation too).. I'm sure Dave's will be along shortly, he's pretty busy digging trenches and dusting off rocks at the moment. I wanted to represent the Crusaders 'conquering' the infidels with my pic... and then do a bit of a riff on (I think) William the Conqueror... or whoever it was that got their eye shot out.... History... meh!
