New Sketches

Here's a few sketches done recently. I'm hoping to start working at least a few of them up on Illustrator soon, feels like forever since I've produced a 'finished' piece.

UP UP and AWAY!!!

Had a very good couple of hours just listening to music and doodling in my sketchbook today. here's the first of the fruits of my labour... Simple Superman.

WAR OF WORDS... VOLUME

Here's the original sketch and the cropped 'tweaked' entry for this weeks (or was it last week?) word VOLUME. I had a flash of inspiration one bleary morning on the drive in to work... and sketched it up at lunchtime. I enjoy the tweaked version, it was fun to play around with the filters in photoshop after such a long time, and quite refreshing to produce a piece without a vector rendering for a change.

Next word is BARON... interesting.

The Hunter

Getting round to working up some of my recent sketches, and here's a poster for an upcoming show by MASTODON supporting Soundgarden in the USA. Their new CD is out next week (The Hunter) and it sounds smashing from what I've heard of it so far too!

WAR OF WORDS... PLAY

Hot on the heels of my entry for last week's word (CITY) is this weeks effort for PLAY. Did a sketch of a furry monster rocking out on the guitar in front of a city scene (as a concept for last weeks word) and used that as a basis for this. The robot has been greatly inspired by the giant robot invader from the movie MONSTERS VS ALIENS which I've been forced to watch several times over the weekend with my Son (not that I mind because it's a great film).

Perhaps for the first time in a long time I've been able to blast through this design with no hassle.... It feels REALLY GOOD!! Just like i used to draw!

Who knows... maybe i've still got it (somewhere?).

WAR OF WORDS... CITY

Very late entry for the War of Words campaign... Not through shortage of ideas (lots of monsters destroying landscapes and such), but decided to team up Batman and Judge Dredd again for a fake comic cover proposal. Did a really rough sketch of Dredd a short while back (all weird bendy limbs) and wanted to work the design up to see how it would look. I could probably do to make his arms a little longer, particularly his right arm, but it's alright apart from that I think.

This week's word is PLAY.... must get to work on it!

Halloween's a coming!

And now for something completely different...

...erm, I lied! It's actually just some more sketches! Halloween's a coming, and I've felt a little more motivated to draw lately... hence these images. I'm really happy with the 'Dracula' sketch... In fact, I'm off to 'illustrator' it now!

WOOT!!!!!!

I'm sooo excited to announce that here is the cover art for the premier issue of the 'Book Of Creation'. A French publication showcasing the 'best of' new talent across the arts from all over the universe.... and they've put ME in it!!!!! (Must be some mistake) WOOT!

Should have a digital upload of my spread within the week and a hard copy through the post after that!
