PURSON
Purson are another great British band on a great British label (Rise Above). This is a VERY rough sketch for a poster idea featuring vocalist Rosalie Cunningham. I was reminded of a Siouxie and the Banshee's LP sleeve as I was sketching... so I think I'll do something similar when I find it... It was very graphical and iconic.
GROAN... Ride The Snake!
British Doom lords 'GROAN' have an EP coming out shortly (called Ride The Snake) so I put this drawing together that features the naked bald alien woman from their split release with Vinnum Sabbatum..... would make a cool T-Shirt!

Rites & Rituals
Mount Salem are a cracking female fronted doom band (and a recent discovery for me). Check them out here. You won't be disappointed! I used the recent 'ritual' sketch for this design, re-drew it in Illustrator and added some textures via photoshop for fun!

Girls, girls, girls....
Well.... 2 girls... One is a student of the black arts... and the other is an Assassin... they are both sketches! I was thinking of using the top one for a single sleeve/ gig poster for Orchid or Horisont (or a band like that). The other was just a sketch that happened.

Album Artwork
I'm not allowed to show you the full cover artwork yet (for fear of any hexes or spells that may befall me)... but here's a sneak peak of some real live commissioned artwork.

Jazz Classics
Another recently uncovered Lost Jazz Classic from the Homeland Label. The Jazz Bats were/are a trio of Transylvanian troubadours that cut their teeth working with famed Jazz legend Django Reinhardt. This record (Nocturne in Jazz Minor) was a free form Jazz odyssey of the highest order.
The Jazz Bats LP Sleeve sketch.
These Jazz cats are 'The Jazz Bats'... This is a sketch for the LP sleeve for their 1958 classic 'Nocturne in Jazz Minor'.

Lost Jazz Classics...
The Mummy's Lament, b/w Torn Bandage Blues.
Released in 1957 on the revered Homeland label.
A lilting Jazz guitar ballad by the 1100 year old Buddy 'Bandages'. Discovered playing in the Jazz cafes of Egypt by the legendary Dave Brubeck, who was on a 18-30's camping holiday with good friends Eric Clapton and Buddy Guy.

Atomic Age Beauty
Another work up from a long lost sketch from a while back. It feels pretty nice to get a little 'closure' on these images (although this one isn't quite finished yet)... It's getting me back into a groove of creativity and I LIKE IT!!!

Halloween 2014!
It's almost the season of the witch again... HURRAH! As such, I've been inspired to do some drawing (a rarity round these parts!) Here's a real quick Illustrator sketch up..... and I like it!!!

Gig poster
Here's another new piece of art... this time, for (former MISFIT) DOYLE supporting the mighty (former MISFIT) DANZIG at the Hammerstein Ballroom, NY as part of Danzig's LEGACY tour.
Doyle has such a strong visual appearance so it was a great little exercise in simplification, using repeat shapes...
Really pleased with this too!

Chewbacca
It's a mixture of 'things' that brought about the demise of my creativity... but ultimately the blame lies purely with me.
So, if my days of drawing are indeed numbered... and this might be one of my last hurrah's... here's a digital drawing of chewbacca... sadly... I don't like it!
Figures!!!!

WITCHCRAFT
It's witchcraft baby! Here's the revised artwork with the original sketch thrown in to the mix... just need to add a band logo and a show date then 'Hey presto!' Job done!

The Earth Witch
Work in progress poster design for (an as yet undecided) band, using the recently sketched queen. I recreated her in illustrator... but may play around with the original drawing when I get a chance.

Queen of the dead
Beware the Queen of the dead, and those who dwell in dark places...... they will forever pester your for small change.
Girls, Girls, Girls...
A few recent sketches I'm pretty happy with! Sorry for the crappy phone pictures... will break the scanner out one of these days. Who knows, I might even work some of them up into finished pieces and get back to doing some proper artwork!

Misfits
Work in progress poster for the Misfits forthcoming show at the UK's Rebellion Festival. Prefer the sketch I posted recently, but there's something in this illustration that is compelling me to carry on with it... not sure what 'it' is at the moment though!
Blood Ceremony (revised)
Playing about with the Blood Ceremony poster. Didn't feel that the face fitted in the original version... this is still a bit of a 'work in progress' but it 'feels' much better... and creepier!

Witch Hunters (Sketch)
Watched Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters last night... it was alright... Famke Jansen was great in it!! Here's a sketch I did this morning of the titular heroes!

Dead Composer
Strange sketch I did of a dead composer... I wonder if this was a subconscious statement on the death of the music industry?.... Nah, just a dead composer!
Gig Poster (Sketch) - SOUNDGARDEN
Saw a full page ad in the latest issue of Metal Hammer for an upcoming UK tour by the reunited Soundgarden. It was a bit boring... which inspired me to put this sketch together. Really pleased with it, and have an idea for the colourways that pays homage to Louder Than Love.
Huntress - Starbound Beast
Here's another sketch, this time in relation to the forthcoming second album from the Jill Janus led HUNTRESS. Starbound Beast, due out in June on purple vinyl!! Here's the sleeve art for it.
Sketch time - Rodney Matthews style minstrel.
Sorry for the poor photo quality... crappy phone! Here's a Rodney Matthews inspired multi-instrumental minstrel from the farthest reaches of the unknown forest (who has appeared on the blog a long time ago, when he was last passing through).
