WAR OF WORDS - DELIGHT

Could have been a tough one this... fortunately I had this mental picture instantly. I drew this up directly in Illustrator (without the usual scanned sketch base) so I'm really pleased with the outcome. It felt like old times running this out so quickly, the shapes, the colours, the theme.... YES!!!

2 entries to catch up on... the creative slump i've hit is the worst one ever.... and right at this moment, i"m not sure i'm going to recover from this. The rebooted War Of Words is the only thing that's making me draw right now. So above... we have CLASSIC (and my Kubrick inspired simian trio) and BOOK... which pretty much speaks for itself! (hopefully).

This is my entry for this week's War Of Words Blog - Fire. Clearly inspired by a Mike Mignola (Hellboy) drawing I love... I'm still really struggling with any kind of drawing at the moment, so this is as good as it's gonna get!!!!

Beware the deepest darkest depths of the ocean, and the siren's lonely song... for many a sea farin' man has met his doom at the slobbery lips of this love sick leviathan!

War Of Words - HEELS

Posting my entry for Monday's War Of Words now.... well.... because it's done really! A few images cropped up in my head when 'HEELS' came up... The band KISS, a dominatrix type girl and Vampirella. Way back in the mists of time (and a coupe of years ago on this blog) I did another illustration of Vampirella (though I can't remember for what word off the top of my head) so I thought it would be interesting to see if (and how) my style had developed over that time.... would this one be better? Worse?... I'll have to search back through and take a look.... maybe I'll let you know!

War Of Words - SURGERY

The War Of Words is back baby!!!... and it's about damn time too! Heather chose 'SURGERY' to get us started, and here's my entry. Dr Vannacutt as played by genre legend Jeffrey Combs in the remake of 'The House On Haunted Hill' from a few years back. It's not the greatest film in the universe but Jeffrey's portrayal of the insane doctor and the way he moved through the movie really stuck with me.

Word for next Monday is HEELS!

MOTORHEAD

Motorhead are cool... never been a major fan, but have a lot of respect for them ('On Parole' was one of the first albums I bought as a kid!) and they've made some massive rock n' roll anthems over the years!... Here's a poster for an upcoming show with the mighty Anthrax in November. I wanted to take a shot at simplifying the iconic motorhead pig skull thingy in my own little way, just to see what it'd look like.

The Eternal Struggle

My son is just discovering the joys of Batman (after lots of subtle hints from me!) and I myself have discovered the greatness of the animated 'Brave And The Bold' series (after being a little dismissive of it's camp approach first time round)... am currently dropping hints to my smashing wife about the DVD series for my birthday!!!... though I'll probably end up fighting over them with my son!!
