War Of Words - ISLAND

Here's my entry for the W.O.W blog word of the week 'ISLAND'... as soon as I thought of the word I had The Misfits song 'This Island Earth' buzzing around my head... and subsequently the movie of the same name (and the iconic Metaluna Mutant). I had initially sketched out ideas for a mutant dancing around a record player, but it proved to be pretty bloody frustrating trying to convert the picture I had in my head onto the page... so I started to piece together a picture, which began to echo the DIY visual ethic of the early Misfits releases... and here we are!

The Midnight Song

Here's a warm-up sketch for a little post-it note project we've got coming up over at the GLOOP HQ.

The Wolfman kindly requests...

Listening to CLUTCH - The Wolfman... Track and started scribbling these.

Fairy folk

War Of Words sketch for 'HIGHLANDS' This is a Highland Fairy... They don't take too kindly to strangers... Especially allergy sufferers!!

A Zombie Valentine

ELVIRA

Elvira (sketch edition)

Sketch done for the War Of Words Blog - DOUBLE.... Of course!!

More sketching

Very rough sketch using  basic shapes of musician John Bassett (aka king bathmat himself!) who has a new record due for release imminently.

BALANCE (Digital Edition)

Word Of The Week entry for BALANCE.

SHADOW (Digital Edition)

Digital work up of the recent SHADOW sketch.... felt pretty satisfying to get something done!!

Sketches- The December Wolves

Derived from my War Of Words entry for 'December'. I made up an electro/goth duo and called them 'The December Wolves'. Here is the LP sleeve.

The Yeti

My son had been showing me up with his mad drawing skills again! That's my boy!

War Of Words - Shadow (thumbnail)

Sketch idea for the word 'Shadow'. This floating gothic vamp casts no shadow. First thing that came into my head too! Will endeavour to work it up on the mac as soon as.

Here's a resketch done this morning.

Nosferatu

It's ALIVE!.... ALIVE I tells ya!

PURSON

Purson are another great British band on a great British label (Rise Above). This is a VERY rough sketch for a poster idea featuring vocalist Rosalie Cunningham. I was reminded of a Siouxie and the Banshee's LP sleeve as I was sketching... so I think I'll do something similar when I find it... It was very graphical and iconic.

GROAN... Ride The Snake!

British Doom lords 'GROAN' have an EP coming out shortly (called Ride The Snake) so I put this drawing together that features the naked bald alien woman from their split release with Vinnum Sabbatum..... would make a cool T-Shirt!

ROCK CHICK!

Let's party like it's 1986!

Rites & Rituals

Mount Salem are a cracking female fronted doom band (and a recent discovery for me). Check them out here. You won't be disappointed! I used the recent 'ritual' sketch for this design, re-drew it in Illustrator and added some textures via photoshop for fun!
