WAR OF WORDS... STUDENT
Student of the Black Arts!
Always had this image in mind for the word... though it eventually became a lot more graphic/shape based than originally intended... Happily, it still tells the story I wanted and is instantly recognizable as one of my works (for good or bad).
Having a real miserable time of illustration at the moment... couldn't even tell you why... it's another one of those 'do I even want to draw anymore' times... and it SUCKS!!!!

More sketching madness
More half ideas, doodles and nonsense.. The cool looking band on the bottom post are a great garage styled outfit from Liverpool called EL TORO (and they feature Ash and Ben from Zombina and the Skeletones in their lineup).. I've been listening to their album lots, and here are the initial stages of some poster designs I'm looking at doing.
Bad times...
Oh god!!!! I'm having such a crappy time drawing of late. It feels like it's been ages since I've produced a sketch that I'm happy enough with to take to a digital stage. Here's a few sketches that may have something worth pursuing in them.
normally I'd vet the sketchbook pages before I post them, but I thought I'd share my pain over the next few posts!!!
The girl with the gun is my idea for the Word of the Week entry (Finger)... I wanted to do a film noir type poster along he lines of the artwork of RAGNAR.
The (many) Flaming Skull sketches are my interpretation of the AMAZING Zombina and the Skeletones song of the same name (Flaming Skull). I'm hoping to use the band (and their music) as a springboard to try and get me producing work again... (You'll also see a sketch of the Minion from the great Dreamworks movie MEGAMIND in there too!)

Back to the Masters.
Next for the Masters course I'm hoping to do some printmaking, and in order to approach screen printing practically, I'm thinking of producing some of my characters as a series of Limited Edition 2 colour prints (Black and Orange being the most favourable colourways at the moment) so here's a digital exercise using my recent Dracula design to see how it might look.
It's an interesting exercise to try and reduce the characters down to their basic essence... and it's not that easy to do either!
Look into my eyes....

WAR OF WORDS... VACANCY

The hills are alive....
Here's a representation of an elusive Welsh Mountain Monster singing a Winter Song to bring about the change of seasons. They are very shy creatures despite their monsterous size and are rarely seen, even during their mating season where they perform complex dance routines (like a Las Vegas showgirl... only with marginally more hair... and bigger teeth) to try and win the affection of a female.
On a cold Autumn night, if you listen carefully you will hear their song carried on the wind.
